Manual editing is best when you already have a source photo, logo, mascot or initials and need a clean platform-ready crop. Future AI features may help when you need background removal, generated variants or style exploration, but those features must be labeled and bounded.
Use manual editing when
You want fast local-style controls, predictable crop, a circle preview, original template backgrounds and no surprise AI output. This is the safest default for professional, creator and brand profiles.
Use AI only when labeled
AI should be used only after the product explains the model action, upload path, retention behavior and output limits. Avoid tools that imply guaranteed likeness, official platform compatibility or protected character styles.
Keep the same export checks
Whether a PFP starts from a photo, logo or future generated variant, the final file still needs centered composition, readable contrast, margin for round display and a square PNG/WebP export.
